In 2009, four of the most esteemed jazz musicians of the Los Angeles scene (Joe Gaeta, Richard Simon, Daniel Glass and Eldad Tarmu) reunited under the name The Jazz Commuters and recorded four Tarmu originals, which were later released as singles under Eldad's own label, Queen of Bohemia. The singles can be heard and purchased here.
The Eldad Tarmu Chamber Jazz Ensemble
Eldad's chamber jazz ensemble was created in 2006 for the release of his sixth CD, Songs for the Queen of Bohemia. Its componence included Romanian bass player Johnny Bota, British/Israeli drummer Yoni Halevy and a string quartet from Timisoara, Romania, where Tarmu was teaching Jazz Studies at the time. The band toured in Europe during 2006 and 2007. The CD, with its unique, cutting-edge blend of neoclassical, jazz and world music, has been remastered and re-released in USA in August 2009 under the Queen of Bohemia label and is currently in airplay at radio stations all over the world, with enthusiastic reviews from new-music listeners.
